School Games 2018
The School Games cycles race will be held in Slawston, Cranoe and Welham, on Sunday 2nd September
Leicestershire County Council would like to advise you that during the event a Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and Loading order will be in place while young athletes from across the UK take part in a cycle race on Sunday 2nd September 2018.
A temporary order will be in place from 7 a.m. on Saturday 1st September to approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday 2nd September. The no waiting cones will be delivered to site on Saturday but will not be in force until Sunday morning.
Leicestershire County Council asks for your co-operation during this period that no vehicles are parked on any of the roads on the route shown on the attached plan as vehicles parked on these roads during the temporary prohibition order could be subject to a parking ticket.
Leicestershire County Council is working with the organisers of the event to minimise any disruption, while making sure the youngsters aged 13 to 16 are safe.
The route will take a loop around the villages of Slawston, Cranoe and Welham with traffic diverted away from the area between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The age of the cyclists means that roads on the route, including key junctions, will need to be temporarily closed. The first race begins at 9:00 a.m. after which access in and out of the route will be restricted until after the final race, anticipated to be around 3.30 p.m. Farm business in the area requiring access to sites inside the closed area will be able to do so between 7 a.m.- 9 a.m. but will need to contact us in advance so the traffic marshals working on the day can be made aware of who to expect and when.
Should there be an emergency during the day, residents can contact the event control team on 07760 298117. This number is only for use on the day of the event, for further information on the traffic management required email or call 0116 305 0001.
